Kurt mention during 2004 Skate America coverage

Hi, everybody! It's me, Kirsten. :) I don't know how many people are watching this afternoon's Skate America coverage, but Dick Button mentioned Kurt briefly during Evan Lysacek's LP: "For this program, keep in mind Gene Kelly and Kurt Browning, both of whom made magic out of Singin' In The Rain." I just thought it was really cool to hear Kurt's tribute to Gene Kelly mentioned in the same breath as the original. :)

That was neat.

And although Evan is obviously NOT KURT, as holding him to such high expectations would be unrealistic, I thought he did a nice job with his program.
Evan is most definitely *not* Kurt - but since he didn't really try to be, I guess we can let him get away with it this time:-) Nice program - I enjoyed it.
Hi! I did watch SkateAmerica last week, and did enjoy both Dick Button's comment and Evan's "Rain" performance. Did Kurt perform the "Singin' in the Rain" as a piece in competition, or just the version for his show? That was really an *amazing* performance for his show! Thanks! Mary
The very beginning of Kurt's "That's Entertainment" program did include a portion of "Singin' In The Rain" (with different choreography), but he only performed the full-length version of "Singin' In The Rain" for his "You Must Remember This" TV special.

I remember Kurt saying a few times that he'd like to perform "Singin' In The Rain" again, but it's never happened so far. I imagine turning on the sprinkler system in the arena to get the full effect would be a *little* too much to ask! ;)

Speaking of other skaters performing to "Singin' In The Rain" this season, Canadian ice dance champions Marie-France Dubreuil and Patrice Lauzon are also using that music as part of their OD this year. CTV only showed a brief clip of it during tonight's Skate Canada broadcast, but hopefully they'll show a bit more tomorrow!
